====== Overview ====== ===== Key Stakeholders ===== The key stakeholders for network rail are: * Department of Transport * Determines the level of public expenditure for the railway in England and Wales * Defines the strategy for the railway in England and Wales * Transport Scotland * Determines the level of public expenditure for the railway in Scotland * Defines the strategy for the railway in Scotland * The Office of Rail Regulation * Independent economic and safety regulator * Ensures no monopoly in NR's position. * Has a level of accountability to parliament * Her Majesty's Rail Inspectorate * Part of the ORR and deals with comliance and safety * Train and Freight Operating Companies * The companies who run trains on NR's infrastructure * Passenger and Freight Customers * The travelling public * Customers of the FOCs (such as powers stations who need coal) * Passenger Focus * Independent national rail consumer watchdog. * Mission is to get the best deal for the consumer for Britain's rail passengers. Each territory has 1 Territory Maintenance Director (TMD) and each area has 1 Infrastructure Maintenance Manager (IMM).
